Children’s classes
Fridays 6-8pm at Jordanhill School, Glasgow

All welcome

Tried Scottish Country Dancing at school and want to do more? Been to a ceilidh and can’t wait to try it again? Never heard of either but want to give it a go? Alba SCD runs a children’s dance class catering for different ages and abilities – all are welcome!

We run a 2 hour class on Friday evenings at 6-8pm in Jordanhill School in Glasgow’s West End.

Younger Children (approx. age 4-7)

For younger children we focus on music, rhythm and movement, offering children the chance to enjoy Scottish country dancing and ceilidh music in a fun environment, meeting new friends and learning basic patterns of movement.

Leading on from this, older members of this class will develop their knowledge of SCD formations and steps while continuing to expand their knowledge of dances.

This class runs on Friday evenings at Jordanhill School in the West End of Glasgow.

Older Children (approx. age 8-16)

This class helps progress dancers with a focus on the technique of steps, more complex and unusual formations in more advanced dances. We offer opportunities to be involved in competitions, performances and displays to boost confidence and for a chance to perform in front of an audience. Our classes are also popular with older children working towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Children of all ages are also offered the opportunity to work towards Graded Medal Tests, certified by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.

This class is held on Friday Evenings at Jordanhill School in the West End of Glasgow.
